Pretoria - Afrikaans singer Karlien van Jaarsveld and former Springbok fly half Derick Hougaard quietly got divorced on Monday in the high court in Pretoria.
Slightly more than a month ago, Karlien - represented by top Pretoria firm Adams & Adams - publicly announced that they were going to split up.
Her lawyer, David Scheepers, denied rumours that a third party was responsible for their break-up.
The summons issued by Karlien simply stated that they had lost their love for each other.
The former couple said their first priority was taking care of their twin sons and that both would ensure that the children received the love and support of their parents.
In August Karlien and her dancing partner Devon Snell were crowned the winning couple of Strictly Come Dancing Season 8.
Karlien’s court appearance on Monday morning went unnoticed by a media contingency and TV cameras, who were waiting for Nico Henning as he briefly appeared in court on a charge of murdering his wife Chanelle Henning.
