Pretoria - In the early hours of Monday morning, security guards at Batho Plaza in Block KK heard a gun shot outside and quickly took cover.
Subsequently, the three unknown suspects forced entry into the guard room and handcuffed the guards. They took their cellphones and left.
After a while, the security guards heard an explosion followed by gunshots outside.
An undisclosed amount was taken from the Capitec ATM and 13 empty cartridges were found at the scene.
The guards were rescued by the police upon their arrival. Members of the SAPS explosives unit attended the scene.
