Johannesburg - A shooting incident in Florida, west of Johannesburg, left a taxi driver dead, paramedics said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at around 4.45pm between the Gordon and Hendrik Potgieter Road intersection.

"The passenger that had been in the vehicle at the time of the incident was found seated on the pavement.

"Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained several gunshot wounds which left him in a critical condition."
