Johannesburg - The K43 road has been blocked between Bangalore Drive and Nirvana Road due to protests in Lenasia by Thembelihle residents, Johannesburg metro police said on Wednesday.
“Protesters are throwing stones so it is not safe for motorists to drive,” Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.
He urged motorists to use Nirvana Road or the Golden Highway as alternative routes.
Minnaar said the residents were protesting over housing issues.
The protest began shortly after 5pm, he said.
