Three killed, including two-year-old, after bakkie rolls over

Johannesburg - Three people were killed, among them a two-year-old boy, and five others sustained injuries after a bakkie rolled over in Meyerton, paramedics said on Monday. 

The accident happened on Sunday evening on Johan le Roux Road.

ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen said paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 9.50pm and found the bakkie lying on its roof on the side of the road.

"Upon further assessment, they found three people showing no signs of life; one of the deceased was a boy believed to be two years old. ER24 declared all three of the patients’ dead on the scene.

"Paramedics also found four patients in a bystander’s vehicle who had sustained moderate injuries. A fifth patient was found lying in a field and had sustained serious injuries."

The injured patients were then treated and then transported to the nearest hospital for further medical care.

Van Huyssteen said the exact circumstances of the incident are not yet known to our paramedics.
