Johannesburg - Two people were killed and five injured when a minibus taxi and bakkie collided head-on in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, on Sunday, paramedics said.

A woman in her 20s was trapped inside the taxi and declared dead on the scene, on Pretoria Street, as was the driver of the bakkie, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said in a statement.

Five passengers in the taxi were injured and taken to hospital.

The cause of the accident was not known.
