Randburg - A man has died while 14 others were injured following a multiple vehicle collision in Randburg, ER24 paramedics said on Monday.

The accident happened on Monday morning at the President Fouche and Malibongwe Road intersection.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 6.36am to find a taxi lying on its roof towards the side of the road.

Six other vehicles were found scattered on the road.

"Upon closer inspection, paramedics found two people lying inside the front of the taxi. Paramedics extricated the patients and assessed them.

"One man was found with numerous injuries and no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead."

The second patient was found to be in a serious condition while thirteen others were assessed on the scene and found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Meiring confirmed that the patients were treated and those with serious injuries given advanced life support interventions before being transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

"Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations," he confirmed.
