The future of Jani Allan as a presenter for Cape Talk radio looked bleak yesterday after her name was omitted from the station's new line-up for presenters. But station manager Lucia Venter insisted that the controversial presenter had not been canned.

"She will continue with her show," said Venter, who did not explain why the new line-up had a night schedule for only Monday to Thursday. Allan presents the Friday night programme The Jani Allan Show.

Allan laughed when she was told that her name was omitted from the line-up. "How interesting. But I haven't been told about any new developments, so I can't comment," she said.

Four months ago, Allan found herself embroiled in a controversy over an interview she conducted with American right-winger Keith Johnson, of the Militia of Montana.

Johnson made statements about rabbinical teachings, Israel, Hitler and the Holocaust. He also outlined a global conspiracy theory and denounced race mixing, homosexuality and former president Nelson Mandela.

Allan did not correct any of Johnson's utterances - and listeners expressed their outrage over the interview. An apology was broadcast two nights later.
