Durban - At least 14 people were injured when a bakkie and a minibus taxi collided at an intersection in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday afternoon, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the minibus appeared to have “T-boned” a bakkie at the intersection of the M41 and Ridgeside road.

He said 14 people were injured. Two of them were in critical conditions.

Ethekwini metro police and policemen were on the scene, as were paramedics.

The M41 is the main road past the Gateway shopping complex to the suburb of Phoenix.

Botha said traffic was severely obstructed as a result of the accident.
