Durban - If you live in Mooi River, frequent the Circle Way Trading shop, and play the lotto, you could be R12 million richer.

The winner of Saturday's Lotto has yet to claim the grand prize, and Ithuba, the national lottery operators, said the winner was probably simply unaware that their life was set to change for ever.

The winner bought a R5 quick pick ticket from the shop last Friday.

"What we usually see is that on a Monday winners call us, but we haven't heard anything," said Ithuba PR manager Zukiswa Nomnganga on Tuesday.

Now they have resorted to using the media to try to locate the winner.

"If we get the message out that this ticket was bought at this place and for this price, maybe someone reading that can say they remember a friend of theirs buying this ticket."

She said the winner had 365 days to claim the prize. If it goes unclaimed, the ticket is rendered expired, and the money goes back into the prize pool, which is used to fund other jackpots.

The unclaimed ticket in Mooi River comes just a month after a winner failed to collect a prize in Kokstad. That winner had bought a ticket at a Spar supermarket, and is sitting on a fortune of R35 million.

"It is important for people to check their tickets," Nomnganga said. "People must take better care."
