Durban -A body was recovered on Thursday from the Kranskop River in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, the co-operative governance and traditional affairs department said.

Spokesman Lennox Mabaso said the department would get families who had reported people missing after the floods in the Msinga area to try and identify the body.

Initially, six people were reported missing on Monday after their homes were washed away when the Isibumba River burst its banks.

Two bodies were recovered on Tuesday.

Mabaso said another two people who had been reported missing were found alive.

He said it was not known whether the body recovered on Thursday was that of one of the two missing people from the Msinga area.

On Wednesday, the department reported that lightning killed two women in the province.

Mildred Ngcobo, 50, burned to death when her rondavel caught fire after it was struck by lightning on Tuesday afternoon, in the eMasangweni-amhlophe area of the Nquthu municipality.

Another woman, Maphungula Malinga, was struck on Sunday night in Msinga. - Sapa
