Durban - A municipal worker tasked with clearing puddles from a Durban road in the wake of recent rains was killed when he was struck by a lorry on Wednesday.
Rescue Care spokesman Garrith Jamieson said that the man had been working in a cordoned off area when he was apparently struck by the lorry on Wednesday morning on Umhlatuzana Road in Clairwood.
“Paramedics assessed the man, who was in his forties, and found that he had sustained multiple injuries and had unfortunately passed away before Paramedics had arrived.”
The truck that struck the man drove off.
Jamieson said that police were on scene and were investigating the accident. Comment could not immediately be obtained from the eThekwini Metro Municipality.
