Durban – A woman was killed when she crashed her motorcycle on the N3 near Cato Ridge on Thursday.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said that reports from the accident scene indicated that the woman had for some unknown reason veered across the south-bound lanes before colliding with the center median barriers before she was flung into the opposite lane.
Botha said that she died on impact with the ground and was not struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The woman and her husband were apparently on their way to Margate. A trucker alerted the man that there had been an accident.
“He came back and obviously very sadly saw what had happened,” said Botha.
The woman had succumbed to her injuries before paramedics arrived at the accident scene. It is being investigated by the relevant authorities.
Cato Ridge is midway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.
