DURBAN - Four suspects appeared in a court in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday for a shooting at a taxi rank which left a man with five gunshot wounds earlier in the week, police said.
In a statement, police said the 41-year old taxi owner was shot at a taxi rank in Mandeni.
"He sustained five gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital for medical attention. The motive of the attack is unknown at this stage," the statement said.
"A case of attempted murder was opened at Mandeni police station for investigation. Police’s thorough investigation led to the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of firearms.
Police said the firearms would be sent for ballistic tests to ascertain if they were used in other crimes.
The suspects appeared briefly in the Nyoni Magistrate's court where they were remanded in custody until their next appearance on Monday.
