Durban - The father of the missing Clairwood child – found dead after an extensive search at the weekend – says he is in shock over the tragedy.

Luyanda and his best friend, Njabulo Mankayi, disappeared last Tuesday.

Luyanda Msomi’s bruised and battered body was found in dense bush, in south Durban, on Saturday afternoon.

Late on Sunday Njabulo was still missing.

Luyanda's father Terrance Msomi on Sunday told The Mercury he was distraught and did not want to talk to the media.

The pair from Clairwood Boys Primary School was last seen boarding a bus to go home, after school.

On Saturday, police were called out to Dove Crescent. There, they recovered Luyanda’s body from a thicket, atop a steep embankment.

The cause of death was not clear on Sunday.

Two women have been arrested in connection with their disappearances and investigations have led police to the M7 canal where they have been searching for Njabulo since Saturday.

Njabulo’s mother, Thuliswa Mankayi, was at the scene of the search on Sunday but the community kept her away from the media.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the two suspects would be charged with kidnapping and murder and would appear in court soon.
