Durban - KwaZulu-Natal police are looking into information that a 43-year-old Tzaneen man - who could be linked to the murder of Jan Craemer, 28, whose body was discovered in a Durban hotel room last week - could be in Mpumalanga.

This was after it was reported that a Tzaneen businessman was hospitalised, under police guard, in Middelburg, after a serious car accident.

According to the report, the same man had checked into the hotel with a friend, in the days leading up to the accident, which happened between Middelburg and Belfast, and left him fighting for his life.

Craemer was found dead in the Durban Spa hotel last Thursday.

The Tzaneen businessman had checked into the hotel on Monday and Craemer had come to visit him later in the day.

The 43-year-old was last seen leaving the hotel on the Tuesday and hotel management discovered Craemer’s body that Thursday morning.

He had been shot in the head.

Police spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane, on Wednesday night could not confirm that the man in hospital was the man police were looking for.

He said local detectives would have to travel to Mpumalanga to investigate.
