Durban - A special function was held at Newspaper House in Durban on Tuesday when Independent Media executive chairman, Dr Iqbal Surve, awarded 155 Durban-based staff, who had served the company for 20 years or more, a cheque for R10 000 as well as a certificate.

This was delivery on the promise made earlier this year to reward long-serving employees following the acquisition of Independent Newspapers SA by the Sekunjalo Consortium in 2013.

Dr Surve said: “The people being acknowledged have been integral to the success of the company at all levels. Their efforts and contributions have not gone unnoticed.”

The long-service recognition events are taking place across the group throughout the country.
