Man seriously wounded in Durban shooting incident

Durban - A 28-year-old man was seriously wounded in a shooting incident in Durban, paramedics said on Sunday.

The incident reportedly happened on Sunday morning on Leopold Street in the Durban Central Business District (CBD).

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics were returning to their branch when they came across the scene at 7.40am.

"Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the man lying on the side of the road surrounded by members of a local security company. 

"Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his buttock, leaving him in a serious condition."

The man was treated for his wound and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Addington Provincial Hospital under police supervision.

The details surrounding the incident were not yet known, Meiring said.
