Durban - The family of a slain Overport graphic design student, who was killed last week, are baffled by reports that his death was linked to a “love triangle”.

It was initially believed that Kurtlee Pillay, 20, who was stabbed and thrown out of his car in Sherwood last Tuesday, had been killed in a hijacking.

But media reports have now suggested that his death was linked to his relationship with a woman known to his killers.

The reports said that one of his attackers believed Pillay was having a relationship with his girlfriend.

On Sunday, Pillay’s mother Tracey Pillay said she knew nothing about the love triangle.

She said she was aware that her son was in a relationship. His Facebook suggested he was dating a woman who was in China studying medicine.

Blaine Raman, 20, Dinesh Nana, 22, and Bilal Tayob, 26, were arrested in connection with the murder. They appeared before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday and the case was postponed to December 4 .

The men were remanded.
