Richard’s Bay - The body of a 22-year-old man who went missing near Richard's Bay has been found, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said on Tuesday.

The alarm was raised on Monday when people saw a local man in difficulty in the surf at St Lucia Beach, 80 kilometres north east of Richard's Bay, said NSRI Richard's Bay station commander Dorian Robertson.

However, there was no sign of him when NSRI rescue helicopters arrived at the scene.

His body was found washed up on the beach on Tuesday. - Sapa
