Durban - Disaster teams have been placed on standby after a weather warning was issued for parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.
According to the South African Weather Services, severe thunderstorms are predicted over parts of the Harry Gwala and Umgungundlovu district municipalities, with a possibility of strong and damaging winds moving north-eastwards.
MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Sipho Hlomuka has warned residents to take great precaution as inclement weather conditions pose a serious risk to human life in the province.
“We are appealing to all residents in the areas that will be affected by the severe thunderstorms to take caution. We have also deployed our disaster management teams to the areas that are most prone so that they can quickly assist should the need arise” said Hlomuka.
