A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was killed on Monday morning when she was struck by a car on the M13 in the area of Westville, KwaZulu-Natal.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at about 9.20am, finding the body of a woman lying in the middle of the road. A bystander had already begun performing CPR.
Paramedics immediately took over, said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, providing the patient with CPR and advanced life support interventions.
Unfortunately, after 25 minutes, no vital signs returned and the woman was declared dead.
The driver of the vehicle, a woman, was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
Local authorities will be investigating the incident.
This is one of numerous such incidents in recent months on the M13 in Westville. In May a woman was seriously injured in an accident on the M13, while a man was knocked over and killed in another incident on the same section of road.
