Car hits tree, catches fire killing occupants

Grobersdal – Several people were killed in a fiery car crash between Grobersdal and Marble Hall in the early hours of Friday morning, Limpopo police said.

"It is alleged that a vehicle lost control and hit a marula tree on the edge of the road and caught fire with the occupant/s inside along the R33 road between Groblersdal and Marble Hall.

The cause of this accident is still unknown", said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

He said the number of occupants and their identities was still unknown.

"The burnt car is a Hyundai i20, and anyone who could assist in the identification of the deceased, may go to Groblersdal Police Station.

Police investigations are still continuing." Police have opened a case of culpable homicide.
