Modimolle - A 19-year-old scholar appeared in the Modimolle Magistrate's Court on Thursday, facing a charge of murder for allegedly killing a fellow pupil, Limpopo police said.

"He was remanded in custody with no bail until the 14 September 2017 for bail application and for further police investigations," police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, said.

Errol Lehutso Mapholo was arrested on Wednesday, at the Solomon Mhlangu High School in Modimolle.

Ngoepe said it is alleged that two 19-year-old Grade 12 pupils were gambling on the school premises when a fight broke out and they were taken to the principal's office.

"... after the intervention process, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a sharp instrument, killing him instantly on the way back to the classes. The police were summoned to the crime scene, reacted swiftly and arrested the suspect."
