Johannesburg - A 19-year-old scholar was arrested for stabbing another 19-year-old scholar to death at the Solomon Mhlangu High School in Modimolle on Wednesday, Limpopo police said.

Spokesperson Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the police condemn acts of bullying and violence by learners at schools.

"It is alleged that two 19-year-old, grade-12 boys where gambling on school premises when a fight ensued until they were taken to the principal's office to seek intervention and subsequently, after the intervention process, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a sharp instrument whilst walking back to the classes, killing him instantly," Ngoepe said.

"The police were summoned and arrested the suspect. He will appear before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder."

Ngoepe said investigations continue.
