Three dead, 12 hurt in Limpopo accident

Phalaborwa – Three people died and 12 were injured when a minibus taxi and a car collided on the R40 Phalaborwa and Mica road on Friday night, Limpopo police said.

Police in Phalaborwa were investigating a case of culpable homicide, Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said on Saturday.

"It is alleged that a Toyota sedan was travelling from south to north when it collided head-on with a Toyota quantum combi which was travelling to the opposite direction."

Three woman in the quantum died instantly and 12 other passengers sustained serious injuries and were taken to Maphuta Malatjie Hospital in Namakgale for medical treatment.

The cause of accident was unknown and investigations were continuing, Ngoepe said.
