When a 30-something maintenance man from Cape Town went to his local store to buy his R7 Lotto ticket, he spent little time selecting his numbers, which happened to be the winning ones, that on Saturday made him R8,2-million richer.

He simply ticked off the same two sets of numbers he has been playing for the past few months, and selected Lotto Plus entries.

The numbers were not birth dates or any other anniversary dates, but numbers that came to him in a dream more than three months ago.

Described as humble and shy by a winners' adviser, the soccer enthusiast has celebrated his win only with the purchase of a new cellphone.

Strange as it might seem for many, the Western Cape's newest millionaire will not lay down his tools.

"I want to continue leading a normal life with my family. I would like to buy a modest house and a family car but the bulk of the money will be invested to ensure my child has a

proper education," he said.

Saturday's multimillionaire is not the first player who followed his dreams to find gold on the other side of the Lotto Draw.

In October 2000, a man who interpreted his dream in accordance with Portuguese tradition, won R2,7-million. And an elderly man from Mpumalanga became the province's 11th millionaire after winning more than R11-million in April 2002 after analysing a dream.
