Kabokweni - The two victims injured in the shooting that left eight people dead in Clau Clau, near White River, on Thursday were in a stable condition in a Mpumalanga hospital on Friday, police said.

Senior Superintendent Theo de Bruyn said Nomsa Mazimbela, 28, and Jessy Mhlanga, in her 40s, were recovering well after 60-year-old Elias Siboza went from house to house in a 2am killing rampage.

The shootings began at Siboza's house. He killed his wives Irene Lushaba, 32, and Elizabeth Nkosi, 50, as well as their six-year-old daughter Nelisiwe.

It is believed he was having marital problems with one of his wives.

He then shot his son, Sakkie, 35, and Sakkie's wife, Christina Lukhele, 35, and moved on to shoot Oupa Nyalunga, 65, and a three-year-old child, Innocent Mazimbela.

He then fatally shot himself. - Sapa
