Johannesburg - A chief traffic officer from Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga handed himself over to police on Monday in connection with the murder of his estranged wife and two children, police said.

The woman and two children were shot dead on December 7 and the man had been on the run since then, Colonel Leonard Hlathi said.

“The suspect allegedly fatally shot his two children while they were asleep, and then drove to Siyabuswa C, where his wife was staying, and also fatally shot her,” said Hlathi.

The man was scheduled to appear in the Mdutjane Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on three murder charges. - Sapa
