Mpumalanga - Two people were injured in a collision between a train and a light motor vehicle on Thursday in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said the collision occurred on the N17. “The driver of the vehicle allegedly did not stop at a train crossing, resulting in the collision with the train.”

Rossouw said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found that two people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

“One patient was the driver of the light motor vehicle and the other was a passenger in the back of the motor vehicle.”

The patients were treated and transported to Mediclinic Ermelo for further treatment.

The cause of the accident was unknown.
