Brits - A farmer's son accused of the murder of Tebogo Ndlovu and the attempted killing of two other people will stand trial in the High Court in Pretoria.
Matthew Benson, who is 24 years old and has been denied bail, appeared briefly in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Friday, and his case was transferred to the high court for trial from May 28.
The state alleges that Benson fired shots at Ndlovu, also 24, and his friends on August 2, after the trio from Majakananeng south of Brits attempted to steal scrap metal from Mooinooi farm.
One of the shots hit Ndlovu, and his friends attempted to carry him while fleeing Benson but abandoned him under a tree after he became too heavy. Ndlovu has not been seen since.
North West police had offered a R100 000 reward for information on Ndlovu's whereabouts.
