Nearly 300 arrested in North West crime crackdown

Rustenburg – North West police arrested 299 people for various offences in a provincial suspect raiding operation conducted at all seven clusters between Wednesday and Thursday, police reported on Thursday.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, said: "The suspects were arrested amongst others for contact, property-related and other serious crimes committed between 2007 and 2017.

"Of the arrests, 69 were effected in Rustenburg, 53 in Brits, 51 in Mahikeng, while others were arrested at four other clusters."

Two tablets allegedly stolen from a school in Taung were also recovered during the police crime operation.

"During the operation, two tablets that were stolen in a burglary committed at a school in Kgomotso village, Taung, were recovered," said Mokgwabone.
