Rustenburg - A truck was set alight and roads barricaded with burning tyres in Blydeville, near Lichtenburg on Tuesday, police in the North West said.

Spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, said the truck was torched in the early hours of Tuesday along the Coligny/Lichtenburg road.

"They have also barricaded the road with burning tyres and other objects. The incident has affected the flow of traffic. Motorists from Ventersdorp are advised to use N14 in Coligny," said Mokgwabone. 

The cause of the protest has not yet been established.
