Northern Cape man who used curry powder to rob shop owner nabbed

Danielskuil  - A man who allegedly used curry powder to blind a Danielskuil shop owner while robbing him, has been arrested.

According to South African Police Services (SAPS) provincial spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning and the suspect is expected to make his first court appearance soon.

“Police in Danielskuil arrested a 34-year-old male who allegedly threw curry powder in the eyes of a shop owner before robbing him,” Kock said yesterday.

“The suspect approached the shop owner and threw curry powder substance in his eyes before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.”

The Danielskuil police were alerted to the incident and followed up on information regarding the suspect.

“He was arrested hours later at a hiking spot just outside Danielskuil and will be appearing in court on charges of business robbery soon.

“The investigation continues.”
