This follows claims that pupils were apparently paid to engage in unprotected sexual relations with their teachers.
Spokesperson for the MEC for Education, Geoffrey van der Merwe, indicated that an investigation was conducted at Bothithong High School.
“The investigation revealed that three educators are implicated, and subsequently the process of placing them on precautionary suspension commenced. We have ruled out allegations relating to the impregnating of pupils due to insufficient evidence provided during our investigation. It would be assessed whether the school needs any further support in relation to counselling of pupils and educators,” said Van der Merwe.
An expert team was sent to the school to investigate the allegations.
“It is important to ensure that all legislative processes are followed in terms of the disciplinary code to ensure that the process is fair to both the complainants and the alleged perpetrators.”
“The MEC for Education, Martha Bartlett, will visit Bothithong High School today at 10am to serve the implicated teachers with their precautionary suspension letters.”
