Nu Metro ups ‘Dark Knight’ security

Johannesburg - Nu Metro Cinemas will reinforce its security procedures throughout the country after a cinema shooting in the United States, the company said on Wednesday.

“In the wake of this terrible incident in the US, we will be reinforcing our security procedures with our teams at cinema level around the country,” said content executive Mark Harris.

He said the shooting at Aurora, near Denver in the US, where 12

people were shot dead and 58 others wounded was “random and isolated”.

“Movie theatres are a safe place to seek entertainment. Our customers' safety is, and will always continue to be, a priority for us.”

He said Nu Metro Cinemas would always ensure that it provided the safest environment possible for its guests.

Harris said Nu Metro Cinemas was shocked and saddened by the events in the US on Friday.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.”

Nu Metro would release the latest Batman blockbuster, “The Dark Knight Rises” on Saturday. - Sapa
