Cape Town – Golden Arrow has announced that there will be a nationwide strike on Wednesday April 12, which is expected to affect the entire bus industry.

A statement by the bus company said the strike was a result of a deadlock in wage negotiations.

Golden Arrow said it would "institute a company-wide lock-out in order to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff for the duration of the strike. All services are therefore suspended on April 12 until further notice."

"This decision is not one which is taken lightly and we remain ever cognisant of the integral role that our services play in the lives of our passengers," the statement said.

According to the company, weekly and monthly clipcards which were valid when the strike started would be extended when service resumed.
