Pretoria - There is a stand-off between angry Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) students and police at the Soshanguve Magistrate Court, where two SAPS members are in court over the death of a TUT student.
There was minimal activity in the early morning until about 9am.
Students marched down from the TUT Soshanguve campus, chanting and holding up placards.
They were denied access into the court premises when they arrived. Policemen manned the gate while students pushed their way through.
Eventually, students pushed in and occupied part of the court.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) confirmed that a constable and a captain were arrested for Katlego Monareng death. Monareng was a member of PAC student organisation Pasma.
It is believed that one was arrested for firing the shots and the other was arrested for giving the order.

The third-year LLB student from Limpopo was shot dead during the Student Representative Council (SRC) elections at the Soshanguve campus in August.
In a report submitted to Ipid, officers claimed that they aimed their R5 rifles at the ground and that no one had been injured by the time they left the scene.
“At the time‚ the police stated that they fired warning shots at the ground with R5 rifles‚” Ipid spokesperson Moses Dlamini said. He said the only has two technical reports are outstanding.
