Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Cape Town - Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is celebrating his 87th birthday in a Cape Town hospital on Sunday.

The anti-apartheid struggle stalwart has been hospitalised since late September when his office said in a statement that he was in good spirits and hoping to be back home soon.  Tutu has been battling prostate cancer for almost two decades.

On Sunday political parties and prominent South Africans posted birthday wishes for the popular cleric on Twitter.
