Cape Town - Three men have been arrested on a charge of murder after the bodies of two women were dug up from their own backyard.

Police sources close to the investigation revealed to the Daily Voice that a fourth suspect, a woman in her thirties, is now being sought by cops.

It’s believed this woman is the mastermind behind the killings.

The Daily Voice also spoke exclusively to the young man who dug up the remains of what is believed to be his neighbours, Virna Jacobs,47, and her only child, Rowena Jacobs, 26, in the backyard of their home in Sering Street, Delft South.

Police left the scene on Tuesday around 5pm after only having found one body.

That’s when neighbours and relatives started digging again and discovered what is believed to be Rowena’s body.

Cops took the three suspects aged 51, 33, 28, in for questioning on Tuesday. They are all tenants in the house.

Virna and Rowena mysteriously went missing four months ago, within days of each other.

A female relative of Virna’s husband Donovan, told worried family and neighbours that the women had moved to Malmesbury and Namaqualand “after inheriting some money”.

A traumatised Brandon Barends, 25, was the one who dug up the bodies.

Displaying the blisters on his sore hands, he admits: “I was a bit scared.

“But I knew it is our people buried there so I just dug. There wasn't time to feel anything, we just took them out.

“I first took a spade and when it hit something like a body, I got so scared I jumped up and ran.

“I used a beer bottle and a plank and the spade to help lift the body out.

“It smelled so bad I wrapped a wet cloth around my nose and mouth but we carried on.”

Police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk, says cops are investigating a case of double murder.

“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine identity and cause of death. Three suspects aged 28, 33 and 51 were arrested on a charge of murder. They are due to appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court soon on the said charge.”
