Cape suburbs hit by power outage

Cape Town - The City of Cape Town’s electricity section says it is working to restore power to a large area in the city’s southern suburbs which has been affected by a power failure.

According to a statement, the cause of the outage is unknown at this stage, but the city confirmed that there had been an electrical failure on its network.

The following areas have reported electricity disruptions: the greater Athlone area including Heideveld, Bonteheuwel, and up until Epping and surrounds, as well as Thornton, Langa, Belgravia, Crawford, Rondebosch East, and the Vanguard Drive area towards Newlands, Mowbray, Observatory, the outskirts of Woodstock, Paarden Eiland, and Maitland – as well as many surrounding areas.

The city said it was not able to predict how long the outage would last until it has determined the cause and extent of the damage. - IOL
