Cape Town - A 35-year-old bachelor from Cape Town has won a whopping R38 million Lotto Powerball Plus jackpot. The lucky man immediately claimed his winnings after finding out that he has become South Africa's newest multi-millionaire.
“I went to the same retailer where I placed my bet two days after the draw to check if my ticket won anything and to my surprise, I was told to go to the Ithuba offices. I knew at that moment that I had won but I wasn’t sure how much it was,” he said.
The winner, who spends around R150 a week on Lotto tickets, says he played with the full intention of walking away the winner on September 21 and used the affirmation for abundance principle whenever he played, but simply could not believe his luck when his dream was realised.
“I am still in disbelief as I have never won from playing any of the Lottery games, and my first ever win is the highly sought after jackpot,” he said.
According to the lucky singleton, his father - who he says he trusts implicitly - is the only person who knows about his windfall, and he intends to keep it that way. Some of his winnings will be spent on travelling and enjoying the outdoors.
While uncertain of his future plans at this point, he says he will keep his job and live a simple life while continuing to play Lotto and Lotto Plus.
