Cape Town - Police are investigating the murder of a 37-year-old alleged gang leader from Lavender Hill who was shot and killed in Fawley Court on Tuesday night.

The victim, Mughtar Parsens, aka Markie, was the suspected leader of the Luciano Boys of Chapel Street, where he lived.

Parsens was shot four times in the face and twice in the chest.

Police found 12 cartridges on the scene.

It is believed three men opened fire on the car he was driving.

Parsens had apparently gone to drop off his girlfriend, and was gunned down just as he was about to drive away, allegedly by three members from the rival Fast Guns gang.

Witnesses say the shooting was a hit.

The community is now worried that this will be the beginning of yet another gang war that will take innocent lives.

“This it not the end of this. These guys are going to hit back and the community will be in the middle of it,” a worried mother tells the Daily Voice.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirms a case of murder is being investigated.

“This office can confirm a shooting incident on June 20, at 7:30pm at Fawley Street, Lavender Hill, Steenberg. Upon their arrival, members found a 37-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his chest and head,” she says.

“No one has been arrested at this stage.”
