Cape Town. 231213. A fire in Valhalla Park, Cape Town, left 1400 people homeless on Monday morning, the city's disaster risk management centre said. Spokesman Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said the centre responded to the fire at the 8th Avenue informal settlement, off Eleanor Road, around 11.30am. "The city dispatched emergency and disaster crews that are on-scene and battling the blaze," he said. Of the 585 dwellings in the area, around 350 units were destroyed. Cape Town - 131223 - As temperatures sore on the Cape Flats and a strong southernly wind picked up the area of Valhalla Park was ravaged by a fire.
