Cape Town - The case against four men accused of the kidnapping, rape and murder of Stellenbosch University student Hannah Cornelius has been postponed to March 23 to allow the defence to get outstanding documents together.

Eben van Niekerk, 27, Vernon Witbooi, 32, Geraldo Parsons, 26, and Nashwill Julies, 26, are charged with murder, kidnapping and robbery with aggravating circumstances. They have also been charged with the hijacking and attempted murder of her male friend.

Cornelius was killed after she and her friend were hijacked in Bird Street, Stellenbosch, in May last year. Her body was found the following day in Knorhoek Road near a farm in Stellenbosch.

At the time, students at the university questioned how safe they were on campus. More than 3 000 women from the university connected on emergency WhatsApp groups so that they could alert someone when they felt unsafe on campus.
