Hout Bay man shot whilst jogging

Cape Town - A 34-year-old man was hospitalised on Wednesday morning after he was shot whilst jogging on Empire Street in Hout Bay.

ER24 paramedics arrived at a nearby residence at 06h55 after the man had run to a nearby residence after the incident. The man was found seated inside.

Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his lower back.

The man was treated for his injuries and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

On Tuesday, in a separate incident, ER24 paramedics reported that a French tourist was mugged, robbed of her backpack and stabbed in the neck on in Bo-Kaap, formerly known as the Malay Quarter.

The victim is a 20-year-old woman currently studying at the University of Cape Town. She was stabbed three times in the neck and her shoulder was injured in the attack. 

The student, who lives in the Bo-Kaap and has been mugged in the area before, fell to the ground and the mugger made off with her backpack and ran towards Longmarket Street.

She was taken to the Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital.
