Cape Town - The owner of a Lakeside guest house has been killed in a brutal robbery at his Bunker Road home in the early hours of Saturday morning. Patrick Johannes, 59, was shot and stabbed six times.

Two guests - one German and one Spanish national - who were asleep at the time of the robbery, locked themselves in their room when they heard gunshots being fired.

According to police, the suspects gained entry to the residence by forcing a window open. At this point, a computer monitor and 2 television sets are the only items that have been confirmed to be stolen. It is unclear what else was taken.

Muizenberg police are investigating a case of murder and house robbery. No suspects have been arrested yet.
