Lakeside man murdered in botched house robbery

Cape Town - Police are investigating the death of a 59-year-old man who was found with various wounds to his upper back in his Lakeside home on Saturday. The motive for the murder appears to have been robbery.

The identity of the murder victim has not been released, but it is believed that part of the deceased's Bunker Road home was being used as a guest house. It is also unclear at this point how long the man had been dead before his body was discovered.

Police have not yet identified any suspects and no arrests have been made.

According to Captain FC Van Wyk, police forensic investigators are still combing the scene for clues. A murder and house robbery case were registered for investigation.  

Police have requested that anyone with information about the murder contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer E Ganz on 082 522 1809.
