A man has been killed by a great white shark in Kogel Bay, between Gordon's Bay and Rooi Els, the City of Cape Town said on Thursday.

“The man was in his 30s and his body has been recovered,” spokeswoman Kylie Hatton said.

“We have closed the beach because there are still white sharks present in the water.”

The city said it was investigating and would provide more details when available. – Sapa
