Man killed in fight over shopping trolley

Cape Town - One man has been murdered during an altercation over a trolley and three others shot and killed in just two days in Lavender Hill.

Police were called to St. Canute Street on Sunday just after 9.40pm when they found the body of a 33-year-old man inside a Wendy house.

On Monday, cops arrived at Trevor Siljeur Street, Vrygrond, where they found the body of a 47-year-old man who lived in the street.

Police say the man sustained head injuries during an argument over a shopping trolley.

Cops arrested two suspects, a 53-year-old woman and her 33-year-old son, who are expected to appear in court soon on a charge of murder.

Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, explains: “It has been alleged that an altercation ensued between the deceased and two other residents of Trevor Siljeur Road concerning a shopping trolley.

“A case of murder has been registered at Muizenberg SAPS.”

On the same day, police were called to an open field in St. Boniface Street in Lavender Hill, where they found the body of a 27-year-old man with a bullet wound and who was covered with a rug.

A few hours later, police arrived in Military Heights just after 4.15pm, where they found the body of a 20-year-old man who had been shot in the neck.

No arrests have been made in these cases.
